The Venice Grey Fabric Armchair is the single-seat version of the Venice range, finished in the same mid grey upholstery as the Venice sofas and measuring W100cm x D100cm x H68cm.
How the Venice is built
The Venice is a tub-shaped sofa, and that shape is the whole point of it. The arms do not sit upright at the ends — they curve inward and forward, so the sofa wraps around whoever is sitting in it rather than simply supporting them from behind. Seen from the front it reads as one continuous rounded form with no square corner anywhere on the frame.
Every surface is channel-tufted. The back is divided into deep vertical flutes, the arms carry the same fluting wrapped around their curve, and the seat is channelled front to back so the lines run towards you as you look at it. On most sofas tufting is a detail on the back cushions only; here it runs over the entire body, which is what gives the Venice its ribbed, sculptural look.
It is a low, deep sofa. The back stands 68cm from the floor — noticeably lower than a conventional sofa — while the depth is a full 100cm. That combination puts it firmly in the lounging category: you sit back into the Venice rather than upright on it, and because the back is low it does not visually cut a room in half when floated away from a wall.
The upholstery is a heavyweight chenille with a coarse, textured weave that catches light along each flute. A matching scatter cushion is supplied with every piece.
Where the Grey Venice armchair works
Mid grey is the easiest colour to build a room around. It takes mustard, rust and forest green cushions without a fight, sits comfortably against both white and greige walls, and will not date the way a strong colour does. How do I clean it? Vacuum along the channels with an upholstery attachment rather than across them, so the pile is not dragged out of the flutes. Blot spills straight away with a clean dry cloth instead of rubbing, which flattens the texture. Do not soak the fabric or use bleach-based cleaners.

Before you order, please measure. Check the width and height of doorways, hallways, stairwells and any tight turns on the route to the room. Most of our sofas arrive in sections or with removable feet, but corner and U-shape units are large single pieces — the dimensions for each part are listed under Dimensions below.
Full dimensions for this model are listed in the description above. Measurements are taken at the widest and deepest points including arms and cushions, and may vary by up to 2cm as every frame is finished by hand.
Assembly is minimal — typically the feet screw on by hand and corner or modular sections clip together. No tools are needed for most models. Recliner and electric models are supplied ready to use; simply connect the supplied transformer to a standard socket.
Velvet
Brush the pile gently in one direction and vacuum on a low upholstery setting every couple of weeks. Blot spills immediately with a clean dry cloth — never rub, as this crushes the pile. Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to prevent fading.
Bouclé & Chenille
Vacuum with an upholstery brush, never a beater bar, which can pull the loops. Snagged loops should be trimmed level with scissors, not pulled. Blot spills with a barely damp cloth and allow to air dry.
Genuine Leather
Dust weekly with a dry microfibre cloth and condition every 6–12 months with a quality leather cream to keep the hide supple. Keep at least 30cm from radiators and direct heat sources, which dry and crack the surface.
PU & Faux Leather
Wipe clean with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid solvents, bleach, alcohol wipes and abrasive cleaners. Keep away from direct heat and prolonged sunlight.
All fabrics
Rotate and plump loose seat and back cushions weekly so they wear evenly. Foam and fibre fillings settle by up to 10% in the first few months — this is normal and not a fault.
Every sofa carries a 5-year guarantee on the frame and a 1-year guarantee on the mechanism, springs and electrics against manufacturing faults.
