What is an ottoman bed?
An ottoman bed has a mattress platform that lifts on gas struts to reveal a storage space the full size of the bed underneath. It is the most storage you can get from a bed without raising the mattress height, which makes it ideal for smaller bedrooms and homes without a loft. End-lift or side-lift?
- End-lift (foot-end opening) is the most common and suits beds with a clear space at the foot.
- Side-lift opens from one side and is better when the bed sits against a wall at the foot or in a narrow room.

Care and safety
