Choosing a bed
Start with size — UK single 90x190cm, double 135x190cm, king 150x200cm, super king 180x200cm — and leave 60–75cm of walking space around it. Then choose the type: an ottoman for the most storage, a divan for drawers and a low profile, or an upholstered frame for a statement headboard.
Ottoman, divan or upholstered frame?
- Ottoman beds: the whole base lifts on gas struts to reveal storage the size of the mattress. Best for small rooms.
- Divan beds with storage: a solid base with two or four drawers and a headboard; often sold as a set with a mattress.
- Upholstered beds: a fabric or velvet frame with a tall winged or buttoned headboard and a slatted base.

Fabrics
Most beds come in plush velvet, chenille or linen-look fabric in grey, cream, blush and navy. Vacuum monthly and blot spills.
Delivery and assembly
Beds arrive flat-packed with instructions; two people and 45–60 minutes is typical. Free UK delivery is included.
