Everything you need to know about Ceramic & Sintered Stone Dining Table

Sizes, materials, care and delivery — written by the GalaxiMart team to help you choose with confidence.

What is a ceramic and sintered stone dining table?

Sintered stone is made by compressing natural minerals under extreme heat and pressure into a dense slab that is harder than granite. Like ceramic it is non-porous, stain-, scratch- and heat-resistant and needs no sealing, but it is thicker, stronger and can be finished with a through-body pattern. It is the material most of our extending tables use because the leaves stay perfectly matched.

Marble vs ceramic vs sintered stone vs glass vs wood

Sizing

As a rule of thumb, allow 60cm of table edge per person and 90cm of clearance behind each chair so people can sit down and walk past.

Caring for a marble or stone table top

Care depends on what the top is made of, so check the product page first.

  • Natural marble is porous. Wipe spills straight away (wine, citrus and coffee can etch it), clean with a pH-neutral cleaner and a soft cloth, use placemats and coasters, and re-seal once or twice a year.
  • Sintered stone and ceramic tops are non-porous, heat- and scratch-resistant, and need only a damp cloth. No sealing required.
  • Never drag a table across the floor — lift it — and keep heavy items off the overhang.

Finishing the room

Match your table with a marble coffee table, console table, lamp table or sideboard in the same finish, and add bar stools for a kitchen island. Every order includes free UK delivery, and our Manchester-based team is happy to help you choose.

Ceramic & Sintered Stone Dining Table — frequently asked questions

Is sintered stone good for a family dining table?

Yes — it is the toughest top we sell. Non-porous, heat-, stain- and scratch-resistant, and it never needs sealing, so hot pans, wine and homework are all fine.

What is the difference between ceramic and sintered stone?

Both are non-porous man-made slabs with a printed stone effect. Sintered stone is compressed under greater heat and pressure, so it is thicker, stronger and used on most of our extending tables.

How do I clean a sintered stone table?

A damp cloth and mild detergent. Sintered stone is non-porous and needs no sealing.

Can I buy the table without chairs?

Yes. Most tables are available on their own or as a set with 4, 6 or 8 chairs — choose the option you want on the product page.

Is delivery free?

Yes. Free UK delivery is included on every order. Estimated delivery times are shown on each product page, and larger pieces are delivered by a two-person team.
